(Payment can also be made in the equivalent GBP, taking an agreed exchange rate at the time of booking)
Things to do
We are set in about 80 acres of countryside which provides lots of interest in itself - for walks, bird watching etc. We can provide a small boat or heavy-duty inflatable kayak for rowing on the lake, as well as kites, tennis rackets, boules etc. We also have some livestock (chickens, ducks, rabbit etc.) which children may enjoy visiting.
Greg Martin is happy to give some fishing tuition, provide tackle and bait etc. if required (he used to teach the juniors in our local fishing club in England).
Although off the beaten track, you are just five minutes drive from the local village which has a small shop and bakery, a post office, butchers and an excellent restaurant/bar.
There are lots of thing to do and see in the area and the coast is just over an hour and a half’s drive away. The Dordogne is a beautiful region of forests and rolling hills with some of the best vineyards in the world creating some of the finest wines.
Just 10 minutes drive away is a lovely public lake area called Lac de la Jemaye which has a small sandy beach area, picnic tables, a childrens' playground, a childrens' activity walk, pedalos & canoes, restaurant, etc.
A little bit further a field is Lac du Gurcon which is slightly larger public lake with similar facilities i.e. playground area, beach, water activities.
The main town of Montpon is also about 10 minutes drive away which has a good range of shops and restaurants, banks, bait & tackle shop, tourist office, a weekly market, a public lake & beach area, swimming pool, canoe trips on the river, a sturgeon farm etc.
Arcachon, with it's stunning coastline and Dune du Pilat (the largest sand dune in Europe) is just the other side of Bordeaux, approx.1½ hours drive away.
We are situated roughly central to the main towns of Bordeaux, Bergerax and Perigueux which are all about an hour away and have lots to offer.
The historic town of St Emilion, world-renowned for it’s wines, is about 30 minutes away. It is a beautiful medieval town with steep hilly cobbled streets running through ancient limestone buildings and well worth a visit.
